/This week was good at Youth on record I learned the creative way to use rhythms’, Even thought it takes time to create a track. I also got to meet some of the main many to run the place like Jami and Kaylin, and of course the co-workers I will be seen throughout my internship like Maze, always sitting on the table people sign; as they go in the building door. As well as many other teachers like Jesus, and Dj A-L who happens to be a teacher within my school. Usually I don’t like the starting the conversation but I like meeting new people so gave a shot, right away I engaged in code switching because of the circle around which we all look forward to. through my intern I notice the usual roles of working as well and how some times this can be in a fun or place you would like to work for, not to mention it also brought me to realize I could get one my self although I cant expect to get the best of everything so I could try my best every time.

the best thing that has happened to me by been an intern at Youth on record is how underground rappers that are playing shows now show up to give us advice and listen to what we do like when they were young and if they had the opportunity they give to young reckless teens. this showed me many ways to express myself. this has impacted me in a way I wasn’t expecting it to be, because it represents a way of thinking witch you represent yourself and a way you live also a way to do connections with people by either the words set for a track or the beat the creators show by feelings and beats per seconds. this advantage to think about what your audience is and if people are going to listen to you in a way you inspired generations by generations by own achievements is great because many people like Native Sons for example use music as inspiration and is great how music can do more than making people dance to a beat.

when I arrive I have the maintenance position as an intern at Youth On Record so the workplace does not get dirty. the way my attitude goes towards cleaning is if I was not friendly, no one would like to help or talk to me. therefore the way I contribute represents more than me because we can be looked at as role models for all the young people participating on being an artist. As a fact being positive towards maintaining the workplace also shows respecting the equipment; although there’s always people that don’t which gives me the position to intervene and show them how to properly use it and put it away. With this in mind it creates extra time wasted for me when people can’t follow the norms about the studio when, I could use my time for better things. On the other side of working on a project sometimes my co-workers will support and give me props for the music i am working on. Even Though theres main people I have connected with such as Jesus, Pamela and Diego. When I arrive they invite me in and make me feel welcome. Jesus and Pamela recently taught me the basics of piano/keyboard. Once I learn to use the keyboard I can break down the songs I am writing into different parts and use the keyboard voices to record the different instruments I want for the track.

Everyone in Youth on Record, and in every working environment has responsibilities to complete. I have proudly taken responsibility at Youth on Record by showing up on time to work, asking questions if I need clarification, being respectful, and always keeping the work environment neat and ready for musician to work and get creative with each others music. As shown, I try to contribute before I get to do my own work because I enjoy collaborating with members about their projects, and to see what they do to overcome their exhausting challenges. This helps me to not be close to anything that can slow me down. Therefore, if anyone needs to leave for a break or has emergency, I step up and supervise the work area to make sure that everyone is on task and is getting the help they need. as an intern sometimes i take over maze positions in the entrance to make sure no one does anything they’re not supposed to be doing in the work site. Other than that my daily duties are to help the members in Youth and Record or my instructors who are always willing to help the students. Generally speaking, I take care of the cleaning, instruments check ups and making sure materials to not be left anywhere so that I can prevent them from getting lost or broken.
During My internship, I had to complete my Inspired project. Through this journey,I had many questions because this internship is something new for me to experience. At first it was challenging because I didn’t know what to do my project on because when I talked to other interns, they had more experience like making EP’s. EP’s, are half an album that people make to produce their music. Although I felt worried that I had no experience, I was willing to take the challenge to create a beat on Ableton and soon to come to write lyrics. As soon as I make a song my manager is going to give me the opportunity for me to perform my song at an event from Youth on Record.

One thing that should be required in a working environment is to have fun, even more when you work on doing what you love. Although it can be difficult, I like it so far being an intern on Youth on Record because I would like to get as much experience to write and to produce my own music. My highlight is that I’m excited that I am learning how to make my own beat because I am finally getting the opportunity to learn how to make my own songs. My lowlights are how I struggle to write song lyrics because I get frustrated when I don’t like the way my beats come out due to my new experience. My relationships are growing along with my experiences and with my co-workers because my manager is helping me get more involved in production classes, even at my school which I find helpful. Besides my manager’s help, I also know instructors at Youth on Record who are also willing to give me a little bit of their time to help me improve my productions skills. I am willing to give them my free time because I want to improve my expertise in making music so that I can pursue in my dreams in music production. I have been wanting to become my own boss and to hopefully become an MC or a producer. My biggest goal is to make a change towards many people’s perspectives in Hip-Hop. With this in mind I want to show how many rap cultures have changed in the HIP-Hop lifestyle and how to improve their decisions.

My co-workers at Youth on record, have honored me to learn different perspectives on many cultures. They have gave me the opportunity to experience outgoing, fun, creative, friendly and of course great role models to get involved in work and as well in the music industry. When I arrive to work, I engage in code switching usually with Diego, Jesus, and Tyler. I like code switching because my native language is Spanish and makes me connect with my work surroundings. My peers always treat me with respect and kindness which make me feel apart of the team. It’s awesome being able to pursue and to have the privilege to spend time with them because I enjoy creating music around other people who are passionate about what I do. If I ever have an intern one day, I am going to teach the skills I was taught, and treat them with the same love, kindness, and respect so that they feel as comfortable as I feel with my managers who treat me well every time I go in. This brings out a great work environment for anyone to be involved in. What I have learned is that this internship not only helps you create music and relationships, but as well as technical skills. It also shows you how to be a better person, and how to be respectful towards the words you apply in your songs. In addition, it helps you create a positive attitude towards yourself and your peers. Your personality is what others see you as to show others and it should make them feel happy and welcomed to be around you. Besides, the teaching they do is a great way to contribute to the community, by helping them get music in mind instead of bad intentions that can lead up to consequences. Youth on Record makes a great organization for any interns or people coming looking forward to build knowledge in (open labs).

When creating art projects, you must be very careful because this can be stressful if you have no experience about the work environment. As how it was for me because I wasn’t as productive like many artists were who when to learn the software and instruments within the first weeks of open labs. To begin to produce a song. Even Though I was taught the basic about how to use the sounds that would match my own style in the creative process. I would struggle as it came to an end i spoke to my manager about giving me more time to get comfortable with the software. He came down offering me time to work on tracks at my school who happens to have classes of Youth on record with a well known dj AL. meanwhile I when to school I also get a bit of time to work with the software, so i can get a couple of tracks to improvise and see how I can change or get words to go along my beats. This has helped me throughout my inspire project because it is giving me more topics to introduced in my own goals yet to achieve. Therefore since we won’t be getting graded on finishing it, i want to show my improvement from zero towards my future goals or my expectations to see if I can keep on working in this magnificent facility with an outstanding creative process . This internship experience has not yet changed my ambition towards my personal goals because i’m perseverance towards this opportunity to be my own manager. Although I haven’t got a chance to make a song or listen to my own voice sound on the recording booth. Which makes it difficult to ask for advice whether i do good or bad. I have also notice my goals are changing around from where i started which was to see if i can make it in the music industries. I always wondered if someone who could have been struggling as I am towards knowing what to work for life . Which can be tricky at first because it’s like teaching someone who doesn’t want to acknowledge the potential to seek opportunities in life.

my inspired project focuses into making an EP, which stands for a half of an album. This has been challenging me all days because of my low knowledge in the music production (beats and writing). As I spoke to my sponsor about me not having a beat done by the half of the time of my internship. We started discussing between different ideas or projects depending on my own goals and struggles. Then he figure since his organization has a program in my school and because my school schedule was really empty and since I could only attend Youth on record twice a day, seven hours a week that could be a good amount of time for my to practice in Ableton (the software used to create beats) at Youth on record. while I complete my beats for my inspired project with many different videos to learn from I have made two complete tracks that i can practice to improvised and hope to come up with a song I could use as my inspired project towards my community. To show how we can dreaming big and have standards towards completing them no matter what gets in the way because I had always dream of becoming my own manager without having to struggle like my parents are with a minimum wage salary. With this in mind I plan to make music a hobby for me to construct into arts, and science because I enjoy creating and finding new ways about things people just see as a common sense which points out my main concern for my future goals. This has not only made me better at the software creativeness but gave me more opportunities towards making myself an MC and a producer in the music industries to hopefully build a relationship around my co-workers and sponsor because they have notice how much ambition I put up in the effort of making a progress from what i started with and where I have gotten myself to with their time taken to help me and with hope to come along to work with them. Although I have made a huge progress for myself I still struggle to find the words for an inspiration project towards the audience I hope to get from a song even in the beats because i don’t get a way to go along the words that I would like to say and also the way to persuade.
