Of course this experience has been very rewarding for me, I’ve learned so much bout music well being here i even learned to play the drums, I’m not the best but i’ve been practicing and I’m pretty decent. Another benefit i have from Y.O.R. i’ve got to work on a professional sound board, and I felt like a professional engineer, and it was amazing. My negative experience i would say is not being able to be there more often, i only got 2 days out of the week for me to go and make music there, i just wish i could’ve gotten more hours, so that i can have more time in the studio and to talk to Tyler. Now Tyler is leaving and he won’t be the head director anymore and that really make me sad because he’s such an awesome guy, and he’s always so calm and chill. He plays so many instruments, i really look up to his talents and i really want to be there one day. i would say that this Internship really matched my expectations because its just a positive place and i was expecting a place where i can be myself and thats exactly what Youth On Record is about and its about treating people right. Well at least that’s what I take out of it, other’s just go because of the free studio time, but that’s the difference between them and I, i go because i actually like going. I would say the most important thing i learned at Y.O.R. is how to work and collaborate with other artist, there’s been a couple bands that have came in, and they need people like Tyler and Jesus and I to run their session, so that it runs smoothly, and though I’m not a total professional, I feel like I’ve done my fair share judging off the level I’m at. but i’ve learned so much there, its like everyday I’m learning something new, either when it comes to new instruments, about recording, or even about the business side of things as well. I even picked up some tips when it comers to mixing and mastering. But most importantly i learned how to work with others and learn how they can benefit our team, and how i can benefit them as well, so i show my support to everyone, and i always work on my creativity, when it comes to lyrics, when it comes to art, and when it comes to making people happy.I love to make people feel good about making music and I really care about everyone around me because I notice everyones talent, and i make sure to show therm mines. So that’s the Journey of the “Rose” at Youth on record. Love-G-Rose…

Wow, where do I even start? There has been so many things that inspired my artistic views from youth on record. I think ill start with the people there, for starters everyone is so full of positivity and dreams that when we’re all in a room together we come up with some of the greatest music we can come up with. I’ve always been a positive guy and always kept my lyricism proper, but I focus on the pain, and i fight for the ones who can’t fight for themselves, but my message is to support those kids who don’t fit in, and I always make people feel welcome. people need to feel Respected as Individuals in order to respect you. So I mentally support every aspiring artist in their views, but we refuse to use any language that bashes women, so i respect all the women who come in there to work, such as Pam she’s a lady who teaches piano lessons, I’ve talked to her quite a few times, we talk a lot about politics and about our economy, and how there are a lot of people who are unstable and how our government treats them. We also talk about colleges and how she wishes she could’ve finished school, but currently she’s been sick so she could;t finish . I sure hope i get to talk to her again because she always has many to say things that inspire me, and i appreciate her views because she respects everyone around, and pretty much everyone respects me. I look at everyone there like family because I see them every weekend. I’ve made a name for myself as well, it took only a year for people to catch on , and start calling me Rose/ G-Rose. I want people to hear my name and think about a respectable young man who deserves to go places in his career, because thats what I see in everyone around me. I make sure to trust in most the people around me and make sure we are going on the right path so that my reputation is legit and clean. A true business man has to be credible, and i make sure to hold people accountable for the rules in the studio. not only because thats like my job, but because its like my passion, I really care about music and I don’t need people to ruin the positive vibes for everyone around. I try to be as polite as possible well working with the other artist. It’s like something I never felt before but to a certain level i have a sense of status at Y.O.R. and the others respect me, and my music and really want to collaborate with me, and its really nice to have people around me that not only respect but understand my views. That’s what really motivates me to become a better artist and a better person. Love Rose.

My internship projects have been going pretty well, I recently did a performance for “MCA Denver”, Mason, who works at Y.O.R. with me signed me up for it, and i rocked the show. That was like my first time doing a show like that, it was a very great experience to go through, and i enjoyed every bit of it. I performed 4 of my personal songs. I performed “Love and Poetry”, “Emotions”, “Cancer”, and ” The Rose’s Are Dying”, it was a bit nerve wrecking, but I’m so happy i did it. I got exposure to an environment I never really been around, and I met so many nice people in the process. Originally i was planning a Community Love Project, and Tyler, my instructor was all for it, but some other things came up, and i had to use my MCA performance as my final project, so i made sure i had one of my friends record it. My sponsor is very supportive of all my ideas and he really understands the visions I have for Y.O.R. because it’s all about love and positivity. He told me to let him know in any ways that he can help and he’ll help me make it a success, so maybe this summer if they still let me, my “Community Love Project can actually happen. I bring many of my people to Y.O.R. and we make a good name for it, so by doing this project we can make Y.O.R. a major place for local artist to come in and make music well feeling at home. By doing a “Community Love Project” this will build my name up as well, and i can show people what I’m actually capable of, I have so many dreams and ambitions and Y.O.R. has the perfect platform for me to do that, i enjoy every moment there, and what i like is that people actually enjoy me being there. Y.O.R. is my second home and everyone there is like my family. But I will not lie, there has been some ups and downs to this, its just been hard to balance all my work from school and all my work that I have to do for Y.O.R. such as my Blogs and my blog portfolio. But I’m working at my best to get everything finished, but seeing how hard my co-workers work it motivates me to get all my work done, so that I can enjoy the great moments at Youth on record. My project planning would’ve went a lot smoother, but my phone currently got stolen, so i had to restart a lot of my planning, but i know if i work harder i can get it done and actually make it a success. I just need to work with my team and we’ll be able to concur anything at this moment, like they say “Teamwork makes the dreamwork”. Love-Luis Rosa, AKA G-Rose.

The difference between working on personal projects and working in a creative business is scheduling, because if it’s my personal project I can work on it whenever or wherever I want, but if it’s for the business then you have to work based on other people’s time. I learned that in order to have an established business, you need a team of people who are willing to support your movement. Someone to promote your music and get people to listen to your music. You also need someone to book your shows so that you can get paid. Another person to take pictures of you, and make sure you’re looking clean. Every big time artist have an. Antorage as well, which is a group of people who are always willing to help and who are there to make sure you’re focused. So as of right now I been searching for people who are willing to support my art, and who want to be apart of my team. Now that I work at YOR I’ve been meeting people who are very willing to help any way they can. It’s been feeling like an accomplishment every time I go to YOR because these people are willing to give me opportunities because they really see my talent. I’m just so open, and I like to talk to everyone, and I’m really big on Networking with people so that we can all have fun and it’s been working well, my music is really starting to get exposure.

Everyone treats me with respect at work, they actually understand me and where I come from. I think a big part of that is because I show them I respect them before anything. I like to show my support and give other artist props on their work, just like a fan would. It makes me feel great when people compliment me on my music, so I like to show the same support to show them we’re not alone and that we need each other more than we think in order to make it big. I honestly can’t wait until the day I can say I have an intern, to have someone look up to me and want to learn from me would be a huge accomplishment, but I’d give them so many opportunities to learn, and as long as they try, I wouldn’t mind if things don’t go too well, because it’s all a learning experience. The main thing I’d teach is to have fun and always look for improvement. I learned a lot from my coworkers, from Jesus I learned how to work some of the sound board and how to record. Usually we just get a beat from YouTube, load it onto a flash drive and from there we load it onto Ableton. Then we have someone get in the booth and do what they do best, after they’re rapping, Jesus and I chop up their verses and line them up with the beat. Then we have them add dubs or adlibs. I’m also learning the drums, and I hope to ad drums in one of my songs, but played by me.

I honestly feel like my internship is going great, everyone seems to welcome each other with open arms, and it’s always good to feel welcome. YOUTH ON RECORD, is like my second home, another place where I can be myself, and do what I love doing. It’s a good positive place where I can connect with others and hear peoples stories and the reasons they like to create music. I come from a place where little to no one would listen to my story and my ideas of life, but YOR is a place where my voice matters, and where people listen to me, so I can make a difference. The highlights of working at Youth On Record is that I’m always learning something new, currently I’ve been practicing the drums, and it’s pretty cool because now I’m descent enough to where I can play in a jam session. I barely started playing about a month ago, but with a little practice, at home, and at YOR I taught myself to play different tempos and use different riddlements. Everyday weekend I make connections with everyone that goes to YOR, whether it’s my coworkers or if it’s the students that take classes there. Everyone has much respect for me there, and I intend to keep it that way, by giving my respect to them and their craft. I’m planning on doing collaborations with everyone in their whether it’s a song or if it’s sharing a stage at a performance with everyone there. I believe my final project will improve everyones experience at YOR, because I want to do a community show/BBQ/Potluck, so we can raise awareness for young inspiring artist such as myself, and for YOR. If I can do this then more people will want to come into YOR, and I feel like the more people who know about YOR and its positive environment the better. It will open up more opportunity, not only for the company but for the YOUTH as well.

So me being an M.C. i’m pretty good when it comes to free styling, I would just like to say that I love Youth On Record, it’s like my second home, and if i could i would be there all day everyday. I’ve been learning so much there, when it comes to playing instruments, such as the drums, I’ve gotten so much better. I’ve been practicing the basic counts for the drums every chance that i get, I even had a jam session with the other artist from Youth On Record, I went a good hour just playing drums, and it was great practice. Or even when it comes to recording, I been pretty familiar with Ableton for a minute now, but now that i’m working with Jesus, he’s been showing me how to use different affects and filters, for my voice. He’s also been showing me how to mix and master tracks, and the best part about it is that it’s never boring and i’m always having fun when i’m there. I also been picking up on different ways to brand myself as well, I been talking to many different people, such as this other rapper “Sly”, he’s been talking to everyone about getting his own television Channel, and he said as soon as i start making music videos, that he’ll put them on his Channel. So I’ve been trying to network with him, and he has a Hip-Hop cyphier coming up in March, and he really wants me to sign up. So that’s always a good experience, but just last weekend i went to a show downtown for an artist named, ” Russel Scott” he gave me free tickets so i had to go, but when I was there i made sure to leave my mark, so I played as his host for the show, and I got to rap a verse of one of my songs, before I introduced him to the audience, which was amazing.

So today’s question is “How does your actions affect your work place? Well I feel like my actions affect my workplace in a positive way all the time because I’m very open and I’m always willing to learn something new. I always try communicate with my coworkers on new projects, and we trade ideas on how we can expand or make YOR better. But YOR is all about the community, so I have a surprise for everyone this spring. I’m always trying to contribute everything I have in order to help my coworkers. But YOR is very chill at times. But I noticed there is days where we have to be on the grind and work as fast as we can. But I feel like when everyone works together we get it done pretty well. Its a great experience to see Tyler or Jesus at a fast pace because it rare that I see them work like that. My Coworkers affect my workplace a lot because they really inspire me to work harder and a lot smarter on my craft. So I take in all the information I can when I’m around, I always observe Jesus and things he does to make my songs sound better, and I try to apply that to my own work. I really connect with all my coworkers because they all have different things that make them artist, and I feel as if I can learn from everyone, I can become such an amazing artist. I’ll be able to work on all sides of music. I love everyone at YOR because their positivity is heart warming. It’s like a big family.
Blog 2:Blog Question #2 –What was the best thing that happened this week at your internship? How did it make you feel? What else makes you excited about your internship
The best thing that happened to me at my internship this week, was when I got to record my 1st song in the YOR studio. It was an amazing experience, everyone there is full if good vibes and accept my art with open arms. I’ve met a few local artist and we shared SoundCloud information… So just by being at YOR, I’m starting to get my name out there, which is so amazing. I met a guy names Russell who wants to help me re master all my songs and get me a prefomance as well. But YOR is a very chill environment for local artist to come together and do what they love doing, which is creating and making music. My favorite thing to do when I’m there is to hang out in the studio and watch all the local artist come in and create their music, I learn so much from everyone there. Jesus is showing me how to use the soundboard too, which is a great thing to know as an artist, so that I can mix and master my own tracks if I wanted to. I met Sly who is another talented local and he even has a cypher coming up and he invited me to come through and spit with him and whoever else. Its coming up in February, it cost $5 which is a great deal, but I’m so hyped up about it because I love to cypher with my friends. But I’m going to try my best, to create something big with him, because I know for a fact that I can learn a lot from Sly… He has his own label, he’s really making a name for himself too, just like me. Mace is always there on Fridays, but he’s one of the workers thre, he’s currently trying to teach me how to play drums, it’s very difficult, but I feel like I’m getting the hand of it, I just have to practice every night like he said. I don’t have drums but he told me to practice the counts, so thats what I been doing. So far, Tyler likes me and Diego and says were great, so I’m gonna do my best and show him that I’m Amazing… I have so many ideas to bring more and more people into the studio and I think now that I’m there, YOR is growing more and more. I bring good ideas and positive feedback to YOR, and that what I live and love to do.

Today was my first day at work, working at youth on record it really was a great experience. Everyone there is very friendly and very encourageing. Mace was working that day because Tyler wasn’t there. But he was very easy going, we talked about our music and the styles that we have. I even showed him a couple of my songs and he really liked them, he even said he can set me up with a performance he’s doing, so I can finally get a show. He told me to rerecord a few of my songs, and get them all on one track. The reason he said to get them all on one track is so that its easier to mix my songs well I’m performing. I really think I’m going to Love this Job because I love music and I enjoy being around people who love it just as much as me. Saturday January 14th we had workshops at youth on record, there was some pretty big named people there too. We had the drummer from the Fray there, the executive director for youth on record, and some other people where there. We all got together in workshops and helped Remix this song called Mary had a little lamb by Wheelchair sports club, which is a band. We all had so much fun and learned so much as well. I was even allowed to invite 2 of my friends and they were interested in music just as much as me. Youth on Record is a very positive place to be, and I’m very eager to work there. I just want to say thank you to everyone who helped me get this opportunity.
