I feel like my internship is going pretty well. I’m forming pretty solid relationships with Ru and the rest of my co-workers. I feel like I can do more in the office as well as hopefully go with Ru to a couple live events to improve my internship. I feel like I can do more of this if I go in more than once a week so hopefully once I get a schedule with more days I’m sure I can accomplish and do more.

My weekly tasks usually consists of listen to any and all new hip hop and create a list that describes each track in detail from the bars/flow to the features to the production. Besides that I help add to any other press lists that need more contacts. I feel like I’m kind of all over the place when it comes to my job in the workplace. My main contribution is to be a music consultant for Ru but as of recently I’ve been helping other co-workers with their projects.

My actions affect the workplace in very minimal way. Most of my tasks for my internship are research based. I feel like all of my tasks are a contribution positive even though I’m doing smaller things than everybody else in the office. My co-workers are all doing their own things and have their own projects that occupy them. Everyone has their own designated role that have certain goals for the quarter, it always gives them something to achieve and keeps them busy most of the time.

Nothing too spectacular happened to me at my internship but I did get to see how local artist get the publicity they have. This week I helped one of my co-workers Evan, find and search up contacts and websites for a press list he was making to promote one of the new artist he’s managing. That was pretty cool but crazy seeing how much work goes into promoting an artist to the public.

I learned quite a lot for my first week,Even though I went in for 2 days they were back to back so I retained a good chunk of info about my internship.
There wasn’t too much that surprised me about my internship. I defiantly got a very laid back vibe from my co-workers and the work space, but there was also a overbearing sense of professionalism and drive to get whatever project or assignment done.
I met two out of the nine other roux black members, writer/promoter Evan & Bryanne writer/apparel consultant.
I feel like I engaged in code switching. After being in the work space I feel like you need to do a bit of code switching in order to adapt and fit into the working atmosphere. Especially when talking to a boss or a co-worker.
