Blog 10: Has this experience been a rewarding one for you? Why or why not (keep it positive, if you had negative experiences, focus on what you learned-make yourself look good!)? how has the reality of your internship matched or contrasted with your expectations? What is the most important learning you did during your internship?
Over this experience been a rewarding that I been really helpful in doing stuff and learning the skills of dance. Also that I being able to improve some skills as digital designer, and photography. While I was working at the Bboy Factory I understand how important is to have a relationship with your sponsor at the same time have that communication that may help both in be success at the work, but the most important to create a fun workspace. This may rewarding me because I push myself to keep doing the best for make myself feel better after doing the stuff that I was doing, but also after taking classes and learning about the culture, I decide to do something that make myself feel better after I learned about their culture.
One of the most important things that I over my internship will be the skills that I improve in areas as digital design and dancing. At the same time I meet people that are becoming as new friends. But one is to became as new people accepting new challenges that I accomplished step by step. Over completing those goals I make all of them more fun.
Blog 9: What have you seen or experienced in your internship that has inspired you the most on your own artistic journey? Has this experience changed your artistic ambitions? How?
I have experience that motivation has a big part in my journey because one of my goals is to become a choreographer but at the same time I feel losing the motivation to keep me in that field. Dance is something that not anyone is available to do, but when you try you keep all the motivation that you have it. When you are motivated to accomplish your goals you have the support that make you to be success. In the arts you have to be really passionate about what you want to do, but when you lose the spirit is like you are in abandon island not knowing what to do.
This experience changed my artistic ambitions because I changed the opinion about what to do for my future. The changed of opinion was that for being in that field you have to enjoy it and be very passionate. Also in the arts career you have to find yourself in the specific field in where you feel comfortable. Over this months at the internship I understand that everything you want to do you can do it. But for make those accomplishments you have to keep trying and do not let your dreams go on. The experienced make me changed the ambitions over that because while I was exploring those areas I understand that you need to try everything for being success.
Blog 8: How is your internship project going? How did the conversation about your project go with your sponsor? Did they have good insights into how to improve or expand the project? How does your project bridge what you do at your internship and what you do at your internship and what you like to create for yourself? Has your relationship with your sponsor evolved as you have engaged in a creative dialogue about your project? Art there any challenges you are planning or doing your project?
At the Mid of February I was start talking with Ian who is my sponsor at the Bboy Factory. I talk to him about some ideas that I was thinking for my project. We discuss how I would create the project. During the research of the theme that I was picking I decide to start working in taking picture of the people that came to the Hip Hop and Breakin classes. At the same time I learned things that I didn’t knew it about the culture of the Hip Hop and Breakin. While
I was working I was learning important details about the beginning of the Hip Hop and Breakdance. Also I learned that have four elements that make the Hip Hop be represented. During the beginning process I was trying in do a photo essay but was a lot information that may help people to understand the roots of that dance style. The project so far is almost done, some things that I will be working is in the edit it part with help of my sponsor. At the same time I will taking some pictures that I need to implemented in the project.
Over the process of the project I being really connected with my sponsor asking for help in the process of editing at the same time asking for feedback in what he was thinking in the information that was in the investigation. Some improvements that I will do be the grammar corrections and some shoots about the moments that I want to catch. During the process of the project I didn’t get available to get some classes because I want it to get enough time for work isn’t project. Something’s that I did at my internship were the pictures that I take at the same time to create some flyers for promoting the new events coming up. The relationship with my sponsor get a strong bounded because we became a more closed while I was doing the project. This stronger came to us when I ask him to helping me to find some information about the culture and where I can find it. At the same time we became closer while he was giving me the feedback of the work. Some challenges that I’m planing in doing is to became a better dancer in Breakin and Hip Hop because I like the styles of dance also because while I was investigating the culture I find some information that I didn’t expect to find out.
Blog 7: What is the difference between working on personal art projects and working in a creative business? What have you learned about working in a creative business?
The difference between working on personal art projects and working in a creative business is that one is going to be a work that has to be done for a grade that is going to help you in a grade at school. at the same time is for demonstrated the different skills that you have. at the same time to demonstrated how those skills will help you in a show those skills in a professional way. But work in a creative business is a different experience because you demonstrate the skills in a professional way that is going to help you to improve in every project that you do in a professional way. But doing a creative business project is different in many ways because in a creative business you have to show how your skills are improving every time and how you will doing for improving those ideas.
Something that I being learned about doing a creative business is that when you take the specific time to do it you try every time to improve and make those skills better. Also, you try every time to make that the process of the project will be in order to take the ideas be sure. But mostly to express how those ideas can be show clearly and what things you will be able to change and make that changes before the project of the business will be done.
Blog 6: How people at work treat you? How does it make you feel? If you have in intern one day will you treat them the same? What have you learned so far from your co-workers and sponsor?
At the Bboy Factory people always treat me very welcomed every time that I go I feel as home. To be there I can be myself with everyone, because is a place in where I can show the way I think, learn, and try to show my emotion too. When I go to my internship I feel really safe, involved in the community, respected and also really emotional because I try to be myself and express all my emotions. All the people at the studio is really nice, funny, and inspirational with me. They try to show why the culture that they have is so important to them that when I saw them the only thing that I do is to make the connection that I already have being more stronger.
If I will have an intern I will treat them as the same way they treat me because I will like to make him feel the same way they make me feel every time that I go to the studio. If I treat them as the same way all my co-workers treat me will be more easy for them to get more involved in the roles that they have it. Somes things that I learning from my co-workers and sponsor is to be yourself and try to do the best every time that you do it. At the same time to try to improve and do not give up when you can do it. In many ways, I learned a really good improvement from the sponsor as try to make the things better and get a second feedback for making the things better. Especially from my sponsor I learned that get a second advice you would be able to understand better the point of views and also to improve the skills that you have it. From my co-workers, I learned that every time you do something you have to enjoy what are you doing for making the work more interesting and fun. Because when you enjoy the work you can learn more and get a better understand and better skills.
Blog 5: How do you feel like your internship is going to so far? What are the highlights and the “lowlights”? Do you feel like you are making connections with your co-workers? What can you do to improve experiences?
These weeks at the internship I enjoying the activities that I am doing. Over that week I being working on some projects that Ian give me, also he give me some time to work on my project for making a progress. Talking about how the internship is going I will say that is going well because I being able to learn about different skills that I didn’ t know that I have it. At the same time be able to improve the skills of leadership. Some of the highlights that I being getting over the course during the internship are a good improvement in my skills, better understanding of the work, responsibility, and more improvement in dance. Some lowlights that I being having is the struggle in some movements that I have to work on it. But one of the things that I have to improve is the skills that I want to have in the dance.
During those days at the Bboy factory I feel that I being making some connections with some co-workers that I being able to talk about some experinces in life and also in some topics about what we like to do in hour free times. Also sharing some experiences and how those experiences make us be a success. Some things that I will like to do for improving those experiences will be to be always open minded and also to understand that all the experiences that I being having are making me a better person and also to try better things for succeeding.
Blog 4: how are you feeling working at your internship? what do you do this week? how you contribute in a positive way at the internship?
To be in BBOY FACTORY is something amazing because you enjoy learning and work with kind people that always make you feel well. Also, the help that they give to you when you learned a new step and you can not do the step they help you to learn and make the step better. The days working at the studio I been able to understand the importance of making a clear and friendly working place in where you can make a good place for being better every day of your life. During these days at the Factory, I do a lot of things that were really important for my sponsor like do some flyers for some classes and also to make a little of duties in the study. These days make me feel better about myself in different ways as an intern because the help that Ian is giving to me is really helpful. helpful because I learned how to create an important relationship between the boss and the co-worker.
The contribution that I being giving in the internship are the most positive thoughts I do the best of me and try to do better every single time. Be in the internship are helping me to do not stop in here, is telling me that everything can be possible not matter what. Work in positive ways are the most important things that you as an intern can do for a have a fun workplace and a fun area of work. but the most important thing is to be yourself and be confident in the things that are you doing because you try the best every single time.
Blog 3: How do your actions affect your workplace?Do you contribute positively? How do your Co-workers actions affect you internship? Which Co-workers are you connecting with?
Well BBOY FACTORY is a place in where you can be yourself and you can express your thoughts with only move your body. But this week at the internship I have been learning that all the actions or decision that you made can be affected in different ways. For example: Are you decide don’t go to work, you are telling your sponsor that you are so irresponsible and you don’t care about the work. Another example should be to decide came late and do not say anything about it. These examples of actions reflect you as a person and irresponsible worker. If you want to do something positive at the internship you should start with came early, create a relationship with the Co-workers and also be able to follow directions from everyone.
When someone decides to make a decision from everyone else affected you because you don’t know is those decisions will affect your work area or may affect the relationship between the Co-workers, and the person who is taking the actions.but you have to able to understand the situation and make something for fixed it. Over this week I have been able to get a strong connection with co-workers because I been talking about some ideas that we have in common. One of the Co-workers that I been connecting is Cruz he is so good at break dance and he has common things with me. Also with Enoch who is the teacher of Hip Hop class and we are connecting as well.
Blog 2: What was the best thing that happened this week at your internship? How did it make you feel? What else makes you excited about your internship?
I would like start saying that this week I learned that dance is not just danced. In my dances classes, I understand that every face has a story behind it. In the classes, I have been learned how the dance is an important role in the dancer’s life. For example for the dancer the music have to had a meaning for them and is not just danced is feel the rhythm and also make a connection with the song.
This week I star with my first class of break dance in where I learned how to do a series of movement together and make a connection with those steps. Also, I learned that break dance is not an easy dance style while that type of dance need a lot of workouts for do the steps that you want to do. Also, put all the practice that you want to do for making a progress with the steps that you want to grow up. Over this week I have been able to make.a connection with the understanding of what the music mean in a dance. BBOY FACTORY is a place in where you build your skills for grew up like a dancer and also for try to show your style on the dance floor. All the members in the program make you feel comfortable for been able to try and do not give up. In two occasions I been trying to do some steps that I can’t do it. But trying or practicing you can do it. Is why this week I been able to understand what a dance meaning and how you can do everything by practicing and try everything.
Blog 1: What did you learn from your first week at your internship? Did anything surprise you? Who did you meet and what do they do? Did you engage in any code switching?
BBOY FACTORY si a welcoming space in where I feel really good. The first day at the program I was really nervous because I didn’t know what I was going to do. Ian shows me the studio and welcoming to the first class that I was going to take with Enock. The first class that I take was HIP HOP, at the beginning of the class I was feeling awkward but over the time I was in there I notice that not all of the members that were taking the class knew something about it. Over the class, I learned some step and the reasons for the members about taking the class.
The second day I enjoy the class of break dance with Ian, who make me feel really safe about myself. Also was really difficult because I was supposed to do the freezing every time that I did the movement. I was a really good challenge because I didn’t know the importance of having a good balance in your body and how you have to do the movements. Breakdance is a real challenge in where you have to start thinking about how you want to improve in a battle or in the class. Over this week I understand the importance of BBOY FACTORY is for the members in the studio. The importance is that they go to the studio to enjoy the importance of break dance and hip hop. But something that catches my attention was how the little kids want to learn the style and how they want to improve the style that they like
